This digital collection features professional correspondence of Edward Brown Pickett, Jr., LL.B. 1899, for the entire year of 1936. It represents only a small sample of papers collected during Pickett’s life-long career as a lawyer practicing in Liberty from 1902 to 1950. The collection provides a glimpse into the legal landscape and daily dealings of an East Texas attorney during the first half of the 20th century, from scheduling court trials to establishing liability for injury, from solving family estate conflicts to negotiating leases for new oil drilling operations. The collection was a gift of E. B. Pickett’s grandsons Edward B. Pickett (LL.B. ’64) and Carl N. Pickett (J.D., ’71) in memory of their grandfather. A finding aid for the collection is available on Texas Archival Resources Online and the full collection may be accessed in the Tarlton Law Library Archives.
