About this collection

This online collection of early legal manuscripts represent English documents held in Tarlton Law Library’s Early Legal Manuscripts Collection and span the sixteenth through nineteenth centuries. Images included in the digital collection are indentures, documents of mutual obligation indented, or cut, at the top to provide both parties with a “true” copy of the document; wills; and a writ of advowson, to recover the right of patronage to a church appointment.
